BTW, where do you get the stuff? Would you share your tips on practising oral English with your brilliant girl at home? I mean how she started and improved so greatly? I am a mother with a 10 yr old girl also, yet it is a problem for me now! I am eager to work with my girl and practise with her like you. So grateful for you to share so much with us. Claire.

I bought some home learning books from Australia. These books will help develop your child's reading and writing skills. It is closely linked to the National (English) Curriculum and is aimed at children in Year 5. It is designed to help parents support their children's education.
Apart from encouraging her read extensively, I normally speak English with her at home. Also, I always encourage her to retell the stories or recount what happened verbally..

Thank you so much. You are an efficient mother while I fail as my girl gives me no response while speaking English with her. She is so reluctant to learn ANYTHING! I completely agree that extensive reading works. You should be proud of your daughter! Which grade is she in now? Mine is in grade 5. I am so grateful! Claire.

前几天和北京的好友聊天，她说希望女儿不要太漂亮，只要象现在一样一直可爱下去，快乐下去她会觉得很幸福．她给女儿买了不少书，随她喜欢看，选择做自己喜欢做的事情，最常问孩子的一句话就是"Are you happy?"．我也觉得家长尽可能给孩子机会就可以了，选择是他们自己要完成的事情．.

大部分人小时候太苦了，成功路也走得太难了，一旦有了点什么就握得很紧，甩手不干无异于流氓行为，所以想不干的时候连退路也没有，被卷入了社会达尔文主义的疯狂竞争。幸福的童年太重要了......
