在上午的七个指令中，第一句Please pick up a piece of paper.和第二句With the green pen, draw a mountain in the middle of it.比较简单，考生基本没有问题。第三句和第四句少数考生由于精神稍显紧张，忘记及时调换不同颜色的水笔。第三句Above the mountain, draw a red sun.绝大多数学生对于above的理解没有问题（根据常识也能准确画出太阳和大山的位置关系），但有两三个学生把above判断成on，从而把太阳画在了山顶。第四句In the bottom left-hand corner of the picture, draw an orange rectangle.，不少考生对于方位词的掌握欠佳，理解上存在较大偏差，同时将rectangle和triangle这两个形状混淆，因而这句话正确率不足50%。第五句Inside this shape, draw two small circles, one on the left and the other on the right.部分考生不理解inside，从而将两个小圆圈画在了长方形的外面。第六句Open the book and turn to page thirty-three.和第七句Show the teacher which picture on the page is like yours.多数考生问题不大，但有一些学生页数听错或看错，从而找不到相应的图形，还有极个别的听不懂第七句话而无法作答或得出错误回答。
