Roman Empire, Western Civilization and Christianity
Abstract:Having raised four basic questions about Western civilization, this paper challenges the proposition that Western civilization is the descent of Greek and Hebrew civilizations, arguing that her relationship to the classical civilization can be said as "cancer and rebirth". Firstly, the author describes and analyses the glories, diseases and disruptions of Roman Empire as the fruit of classical civilization.Secondly, he gives an account of and argues for the rebirth, its cause and result of the Western civilization. Lastly, he compares the basic ideas of human life in five areas in classical civilization and Christianity, therefore gives an interpretation of the differences of the two civilizations and the innate reasons.
Keywords: Western Civilization, Christianity, Roman Empire.
