It's going to be spring season there in Australia at that time. So plan accordingly. We visited Sidney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Cairns around Christmas time in 2004. The most impressive place is Cairns - you don't want to miss the Great Barrier Reef there (you can enjoy diving, snorkeling, riding in a submarine, etc.). If you're interested in theme parks, Gold Coast is a good place to visit.
